What Else Can You Bring Me
Available to me is an endless supply of oxygen,
We both have it.
I do not require extra strength to fetch water,
We both have it.
My legs are able, and my arms unbound.
So what do I need from you, ‘cause that is yet to be found.
Â
Is it the love that my parents share as they grow in age,
But I was promised that there is no race to find a partner with whom to decay.
You speak of the bond between two, steady and platonic,
I can barely keep up with my three, why one more, why you?
You stand defeated, aggression building, heat rising,
You never wanted to love; if you did, you’d keep trying.
Â
Don’t try for me, try for you, for we are unsuitable.
Must one rejection lead to aggression? If so, you’re unmovable,
Your heart beats for adrenaline; there is no compassion, no softness.
You see it as weak; you’re all mighty, but you crave leadership.
You’ve no disciple, a sheep is what you carry for you are one yourself.
The heat is a plague manifested in you, and you play its game.
Â
Such a regression from child to man,
Do you see it?
Or are you blinded by the build you crafted and depleted?
There is no shame in power falsely sensed,
apparent; shame is a privilege, so some cannot live with it.
Do you believe it?
Â
My heart maintains function, my eyes remain clear,
The same I can say for you, my dear.
My glee is independent, so can I manage my anger.
Can I say the same for you, my dear?
So what is it I need from you, ‘cause that is yet to be found.
What else can you bring me? That is yet to be unbound.
