Submissions
AIISIKI Media is a space where insightful and untapped perspectives find a home. In a world that feels saturated with repetitive monologues and philosophies, we create a room for work that demands attention. Not through noise, but through substance. We welcome writers, artists, and creators whose work lingers: on the page, in the mind and in time.

We actively seek work from voices marginalised or underrepresented in mainstream publishing; writers and artists of colour, those from working-class or low-income backgrounds, queer and trans creators, disabled creators, and anyone who feels their story is rarely conveyed.

What Are We Looking For

unWritten Minds

SaltWater Petals

Non-fiction and reflective work, including:

  • Essays and commentary
  • Personal narratives and life writing
  • Cultural, social, or political reflection
  • Hybrid pieces that sit between forms

More lyrical and imaginative work, including:

  • Poetry
  • Short fiction and flash
  • Hybrid or experimental prose
  • Visual work (art, illustration, photography) that can be presented digitally

Please look at the section under each publication to see which is best suited for your work.

Submission Options & Fees

As we are a growing publication, we currently charge a small fee for submissions. This is to help cover editorial time, platform costs and future contributor payments.

Standard Submission

Creator Pass

Fee: £3.50

Submit up to 3 pieces of work per strand and section (three essay, three story, three sets of poems, or three visual series) for consideration.

Fee: £10

Submit up to 10 pieces over a 12-month period for consideration across AIISIKI Media, including both unWritten Mind and Saltwater Petals.

Please note that, paying a submission fee does not guarantee publication, but it allows us to keep the platform running, read work carefully, and grow towards paying contributors more consistently.

However, we are striving to acknowledge everyone and their work and include them on our platform.

General Guidelines

Please read these before submitting

Original work only

We consider previously published work. Pieces that have appeared in print, online (including personal blogs), or on social media are eligible, except in rare cases agreed with the editor in advance.

Language

We currently accept work in all language forms as we want to cater to everyone no matter what part of the world they’re in. English versions of the work – if able – can be provided by you, if not, we will try our best to appropriately translate your work to English.

Length

We do not enforce a strict word count, but as a guide:

  • Essays / non-fiction: typically 1,500–4,000 words
    • A summarised version is to be provided alongside the longer version of your work.
  • Short fiction: typically 1,000–3,500 words
  • Poetry: up to 4 poems in a single document
  • Visual work: up to 10 images per submission for a single series

Format

Written work: please submit as a single document (DOC, DOCX or PDF).

Visual work: high-quality JPG or PNG files.

Please include your name or pen name and the title of the work in the document or file name.

Rights

If your work is accepted, you grant AIISIKI Media the right to publish it on our website and related digital platforms (including newsletter and promotional social posts). Rights then revert to you after publication, with standard credit to first publication by AIISIKI Media if the work appears elsewhere.

Response Times & Feedback

Please allow us a one to two weeks for a response before querying.

At this stage, we are not able to give individual feedback on most submissions, though we may occasionally offer brief notes where time allows.

If you haven’t heard back after a reasonable period, it simply means we’re still reading – not that your work has been overlooked.

If you have a question not answered here, please contact us at either unwritten@aiisikimedia.com or saltwater@aiisikimedia.com with the subject line “Submission query”.
