SaltWater Petals

SaltWater Petals is a literary imprint for poetry and prose that explores the delicate, the deep, and the deeply felt.

A home for micro-poetry, haiku, and very short prose (under 100 words). This is for powerful, fleeting moments and images that capture a feeling in just a few lines.

The Deep End

Dedicated to longer-form creative work. This could include serialized short stories, novella chapters, long-form narrative poetry, or a series of poems exploring a single, complex theme.

Unsent Letters

A deeply personal and popular genre. This section would feature letters written to a person, place, memory, or even to a version of oneself. They are written with the understanding they will never be sent, creating a raw and intimate space.

A collaborative section. You could publish a piece of art or a photograph as a prompt, and writers from the community submit poetry or flash fiction inspired by it. Conversely, a piece of writing could inspire visual artists.

Echo Shore

A section for creative nonfiction and personal essays that have a strong, literary, and reflective voice. These would be stories from real life that fit the lyrical, emotional tone of Saltwater Petals—think memoirs, travelogues, and reflections on loss, love, or growth.

In the Underbrush

For surrealist, speculative, or magical realism writing. This is where the logic of dreams and the subconscious takes over, allowing for fantastical elements to bloom within the poetic form.

Pressed in Salt

Our curated gallery for photography and visual art. “Pressed in Salt” is dedicated to the images that capture a feeling too deep for words: a fleeting glance, a weathered landscape, a quiet interior. We are looking for work that embodies preservation—moments suspended in time, holding within them the sharp beauty of a memory, the sting of a tear, or the vastness of the sea. Show us the still frames that tell your most potent stories.

A curated section dedicated to highlighting a single writer or artist each month. This “spotlight” would feature a small collection of their work (e.g., 3-4 poems and a short bio), giving them a platform and giving readers a deeper dive into a unique voice.
